A Message from our pastor Jon Klinepeter:

Dear Willow Chicago Community,

It’s with a sense of urgency and a heavy heart that I’m writing you. Some of you may have seen the news story in the last day or so about a woman named Renee McElhaney who has gone missing in The Loop this week. Renee has been a part of our church for the last few years and she is in need of our help. I met with the Detective from CPD today and he reiterated how important every minute is when looking for a missing person. As I listened I was reminded of the story of the lost sheep in the bible and how I would be searching tirelessly if it were my own child out somewhere missing. So I’m asking for your help.

Tonight we will be meeting at the MINISTRY CENTER @ 418 S Wabash between 6:30-7pm, and instead of our normal teaching and discussion time at Discipleship Community, we will be going out throughout The Loop looking for Renee and handing out missing persons fliers. I’m asking as many of you as possible to give one hour of your night to this effort. And if you’re not able to adjust your schedule, then please spend some time tonight praying for her and her safe return. I’ve attached the flier that the Police Department has issued. The pictures on it aren’t great, but hopefully they’ll help.

Please note the phone number at the bottom of the flier to call if you see Renee. We have been informed that she has stopped taking the medication required to help manage her emotional health. She should not be a danger to anyone, but may resist help. It’s important that the police are notified immediately to get her access to the help she needs.

Please join me as we search for one of our own who is missing.
